The Sunhigh Peach

Originating in New Jersey, not too far from our farm in New Hope, PA, the Sunhigh peach is a very old and important variety, there is not a lot of written history on this variety, the way its history was preserved is through word of mouth! One of the first things you may notice when looking at this peach is probably its zipper! Why does this peach have a zipper? It’s simply the way this variety grows! The zipper encourages you to open up this firm and delightful 75%-100% red-skinned yellow peach. The Sunhigh peach is perfect for freezing and is revered amongst canners as one of the best peaches to can. The harvest season for the Sunhigh peach is relatively short, so stop by the market within the next week if you’d like to pick up some of these amazing peaches!
